Grand Hotel Taipei ✯✯✯✯✯, Taiwan

Taipei Grand Hotel, a 5-star 14-story palace-like building, faces Keelung River, nestled against Yangming Mountain, overlooking Songshan in the east and Danshui in the west. Since 1952, the Grand Hotel has been standing midway up Yuanshan, a towering building with red columns, gilded tiles and a magnificent, grandiose, regal, classic presence, a must-visit great gem of Chinese culture.

A secret underground tunnel built to evacuate Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek (蒋介石) in the event of an emergency was revealed to the public for the first time since being constructed over 50 years ago.

In 1970, two tunnels were added to the plans for Taipei’s Grand Hotel, one running from the west wing of the hotel and the other from the east wing. The secret passageways were constructed to enable Chiang and VIP guests to evacuate from the hotel quickly in the event of an attack by People’s Liberation Army (PLA) forces.

Nearly 50 years later, in 2019, the hotel opened up the western escape tunnel to the public. An interesting feature of the 85-meter western passage is a slide that runs along a 74-step staircase.

Qixingtan Beach, Hualien Taiwan

Located at the north end of Hualien City, Qixingtan Beach (七星潭) is one of the most beautiful beaches in Taiwan. Picturing our ideal beach setting and Qixingtan would probably be it. The beautiful blue sky meets an endless Pacific expanse. The shore is bespeckled with white and black gravel that is smooth to the touch. A canopy of clouds seems to crown the mountains that embrace the coastline. This is the kind of beach that might be listed as one of the most beautiful landscapes in the world. Though largely a secret to the outside world, Qixingtan’s scenery is famous among the Taiwanese.

In the daytime, the Qingshui cliffs (清水斷崖) can be seen in the distance. In the evening, the beach serves as an ideal spot for stargazing. As we’re sitting there, we heard thunderous roar from behind and were startled, just looking to the sky we caught sight of an F-16 fighter jet taking off from the nearby Hualien Air Force Base.

The Old England Manor ✯✯✯✯, Taiwan

When Gem says “I want marry daddy too” we respond by saying “Let’s take an trip overseas and take a family wedding photo together and pretend to have ring exchange” many parents don’t know how to respond to children’s gender sensitivity issues, how we respond to our children may have a great impact on their future growth.

According to surveys, when children have a good impression of the opposite gender for the first time, or have a yearning for “marriage”, and this emotion is accepted and protected by their parents, their future emotional relationship will be smoother.

Parents emotional connection and intimacy with each other can impact their children’s ideal of a future marriage partner, so if you want your child to find a loving, caring, reliable, responsible partner than you have to be that partner to your spouse.

Rich in natural beauty, the picturesque highlands of Nantou County are right in the centre of Taiwan. Surrounded by green hills, The Old England Manor Hotel is a 4-star unique property with a Tudor-style exterior that is an intriguing surprise to find in this part of the world. Complete with a Gothic-style clock tower, the hotel is rich in English artefacts and statues abound throughout the extensive grounds.

Taipei 101, Taiwan

With a height of 1667 feet or 508 meters, Taipei 101 has the distinction of being the third tallest building in the world, and tallest outside the Middle East. Its spire adds to its height, and the total makes it higher than the Kuala Lumpur Petronas Twin Towers. The name, Taipei 101, is derived from the fact that the building encompasses 101 floors. We had a delightful afternoon tea at The Ritz Carlton Hotel which was in perfect view of Taipei 101 building in the background and Gem really loved the food.

Sleeping With Beluga Whale, Taiwan

As we wanted to know what it would feel like feeding fishes in the aquarium, observing them in glorious aquariums, or swimming with them, that’s why we didn’t want to miss this enchanting underwater experience in Taiwan.

We often wonder what it is like to sleep while they swim over us, drift back and forth, and greet us from their stunning blue universe when we wake up in the morning. We embark on an adventure into Kenting’s National Museum of Marine Biology and Aquarium and explore the museum at night.

We slept at your favorite museum section the white beluga whale enclosure and we absolutely enjoyed the experience of sleeping with the white beluga, hand feeding marine fishes at night and watching the corals spring to life at night under fluorescent torch lights.
